Recently, travel booze got out on an ethnographic weekend bike tour in the heart of the Dutch gopota – Mascantier. Despite this, I decided to use the new feature from GPS Motion X, which allows you to fill in the route in gpx format.
The route itself can be made on a Dutch bike router. The orange line is the gpx route, and the blue line is the recorded track I followed important advantage of the navigator is that it even takes you out of the city along picturesque paths. In Eindhoven, it’s not difficult, but I somehow missed this snake last time, and, later, I lost my way. People from nearby towns went out for picnics. Lovers of vintage Mercedes gathered on the banks of this canal. Not a very big group. There were 5 Mercedes in total, and 3 of them were convertibles. They overtook me in the evening – they make good noise. Finding Mascantier proved to be quite difficult. The only sign I found was for motorists.
I had to equal Den Dungen since all signs with the inscription Maaskantje are stolen immediately after being posted. Such is the reverse medal of popularity. Finding Maascantier itself is possible only at the bus stop of the same name. As you can see, Maaskantier is just Den Dungen’s appendix, and Den Dungen itself is a village. In fact, Maascantier is one street and has three houses. Where a separate geographical name comes from is not very clear. This street looks like any other street in the Dutch countryside. The series, as I understand it, was filmed in the suburbs of den Bosch, which is from Maaskantya. There, by the way, just the right contingent for the series.
The only authentic attraction that I managed to find is the Maascantier cafeteria, which sells french fries with mayonnaise and fried Dutch delicacies – croquettes, meatballs, meatballs, and other offal products. There are such cafes in every Dutch village and the main pastime on Sunday evening is going to such a cafe with the whole family.
